Easter Eggs
Last night our church had a Good Friday service.
Then I spent today working on the big holiday meal. I love cooking for a crowd at Easter and Christmas.
Tomorrow a DTS international student from Australia and his wife and four kids are joining our usual Easter crowd (my family and my younger sister's), so we're doing an Easter egg hunt for the little ones. Should be a blast, rain or shine. (The weather folks predict thunderstorms, as they have for the past eight days.)
Anyway, I like my eggs dark, not pastel. So I created color on steroids. Instead of putting one pellet of color in the cup of water with vinegar, I put two or three pellets in there. A couple of them fizzed so hard that they splashed color onto my white counters, but I stood ready with the paper towels.
I like how they turned out. Maybe I'll post photos tomorrow. I just did the color part. The kids will add the stickers and stuff.
Only one drawback to the high-intensity hues: It took a while to get my fingernails to return to a normal color.
