We Can and Must End Global Hunger
Adam Taylor, Vice President of Advocacy, World Vision had this to say recently to the G8 leaders (italics mine):
“More than 20,000 children under the age of five die every day from hunger. This
needless tragedy is one the leaders at this year’s summit have a responsibility to resolve. Even in the midst of these turbulent and difficult economic times, G8 leaders can – and must – do more.”
“The G8 Summit is about more than just eight politicians meeting together to discuss global issues; it’s about what each of us
can do to lend our voice to fight global hunger.”
“We tolerate a world in which one of the biggest factors of a child’s survival is simply where they were born. This game of chance must
end now.”
“There is no magic bullet or quick fix to reversing hunger and malnutrition. But the good news is that
the world has the knowledge, the tools, and the technology to take significant strides in reducing hunger around the world. What is missing is simply the political will to get this done.”
