Aida!

Take Romeo and Juliet, make the star-crossed lovers from Memphis and Ethiopia, throw in some fab music and you have the makings of a great opera—Verdi’s operatic masterpiece, Aida. It’s showing one more night—tonight—in Dallas’s Windspear Opera House.

My husband scored huge hubby points by going with me to this three-hour production that I’ve always wanted to see. And even he, who dislikes lovers singing to each other at full volume, commented on the beauty of the costumes. The sets are beautiful, too. And the vocalists pack some serious glass-breaking power.

A few tickets were still available when I checked. We got a great deal for nosebleed-section seats at $17. Taking opera glasses helped. And as my Grammy-nominated friend reminded me, there are no bad seats acoustically in this theater. Although the cheapest section for tonight is sold out now, if you’re buying singles, you can still score seats in the $30-range using the code SAVE10 to get ten percent off. Go here.
