How to Simplify
Do you make new year's resolutions? I do. This year I combined the to-do task with a one-word focus for the year—the imperative "simplify." Inspired by the tiny-house movement, I vowed to simplify—not to be confused with getting organized. I mean weed out stuff. Toss. Donate. Trim. That includes activities that clog my life and keep me unfocused.
When I asked my FB friends to recommend resources, I received all kinds of responses. My favorite so far: Simple Living: 30 Days to Less Stuff and More Life, by Lorilee Lippincott. It cost me $2.99 on Kindle, and I've already donated the little TV taking up counter space in the kitchen and cleaned out my dresser. The coffeemaker I use least often now sits under the counter.
(I also retired a bunch of aluminum kitchen gear and items with chipped coatings, replacing them with stainless steel. Healthier.)
This week web-genius John Dyer recommended the new Barna Frames publications, data-driven insights from industry pro's. I just ordered Greater Expectations: Succeed (And Stay Sane) in an On-Demand, All-Access, Always-On Age, by Twitter guru Claire Diaz-Ortiz. Check out what she has to say:
